Te Rae offers new meeting space to meet demand

Looking for a meeting space or somewhere to host a small scale conference, Te Rae is at the head of the local offerings.

Te Rae has opened in Queen Street Hastings, in the old Post Office building and has six meeting spaces ranging in capacity from 2 to 80 people. It has been set up by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Economic Development Agency (REDA), a new agency funded by the region’s five councils to support the development of Hawke’s Bay business.

REDA chief executive Lucy Laitinen says the inspiration for Te Rae is expected to be a space that fosters the sharing of ideas and collaboration that will support the development of our whole region.

“We have put lot of thought into the kaupapa and interior design of Te Rae to reflect our region and people.” She says the name ‘Te Rae’ means forehead, a meeting of the minds, or strong-minded’.

“Te Rae references the coming together of minds and is already living up to its name. A number of significant regional meetings have been held here as well as local businesses and other organisations starting to use our meeting spaces.”

The foyer is a great place to meet other businesses using Te Rae organisations starting to use our meeting spaces.”

Te Rae is the replacement to the former Ahuriri Business Hub, and like the former facility, it is also home of the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, Export NZ, and Business Central.

These agencies provide training and advice to businesses to support their growth and development. Lucy and her REDA team are also based at Te Rae. “It’s a one stop shop for business support and it reflects the vibrant business community we are part of.”

Lucy says hire fees have been set as affordable with all rooms offering easy-to-use audio visual equipment enabling meetings in-person, online, or both.

“We have a number of rooms that can be used for meetings (in person or virtual), seminars, conferences, events, training, mediations, and more.

“Our prices are all-inclusive, our technology is easy to use, and we can provide you with catering options.” Te Rae also has common area featuring local art, most of which is for sale.
